About the Story

For generations, the Order has enforced the Architect’s will by anchoring rivers, forests, and fault lines into absolute stillness. But the pressure has not disappeared; it has accumulated beneath the surface, threatening to shatter the valley and everyone within it.

Tharuun, a rare Stonekin Ranger who can hear the pain buried within the earth, was taught by his vanished mentor Elias that his kind are meant to be bridges—not unmoving monuments. Guided by Elias’s command to “listen before you act,” Tharuun protects people who often fear and despise him.

His closest companion is Hollowwind, a great snow owl who serves as his silent sentinel and shares his sensitivity to the wrongness of the world’s forced stillness. Alongside Hollowwind, the fiercely protective Path-Finder Kaelynn, the irreverent explosives expert Karrow, the living-world attuned elf Syla, and Bram, a young dwarf who can hear unnatural disturbances from leagues away, Tharuun journeys toward the North Star in search of answers.

There he must confront what happened to Elias, why the Scribes hate him, and whether saving the world means continuing to bear its weight.
